Hello Young Jounalists!
Welcome to Journalism 1! We will be using this blog as a way to publish your first journalistic endeavours. Before we start publishing, though, there are a few things we need to go over.
1) Blogging is PUBLIC. Your parents, teachers, administrators, and the ENTIRE WORLD has access to what goes on here. Therefore, be professional. (No bias, no put-downs, etc)
2) Blog often. News is only good if it is current.
3) Blog well (use your AP style rules)
Here is your first assignment:
Every journalist is class will be given a "beat" - a specific topic or area- to cover on our blog. This could be a sports team, club, class, the administration, etc. In a post, tell me what area of school life you want to talk about, what you want to be your beat. You must defend your choice- as there will be many people trying to cover the same beat. If you have an idea for a beat that is different, tell me why I should even bother allowing you to write about it. Posts should be 4-5 sentences, and make sure you check your spelling and grammar. Posts are due by Friday, August 26th at 3:30.
I would Like to report on the football team. The reason for this is because I like supporting are panthers and seeing who wins.
ReplyDeleteI would like to report on the Cheerleaders. The reason I want to report on the Cheerleaders is because I am on the Cheer team, so I know what it is really like. Alot of people might think they know what it's like to be a cheerleader, and I used to be the same way but once your actually on the team you realize it is alot different!
ReplyDeleteI would very much like to report on the Carolina Forest Orchestra program. My reasoning for this is that I am in the orchestra and I am new to this particular program so as I learn about the Orchestra Program at CFHS I can share my knowledge with others.

ReplyDeleteI would like to report on global studies because I have the class. I would like to share with everyone the joy of learning about the world and all the history of it. It is an honors class, so if I am allowed to post about it the younger kids and other students can learn a lot before they have to take the class.

As my beat i would like to cover the football team because even though I may not be on the team I do go to most of the games including ones that are away, except I am one of the people who actually pay attention and don't just go to socialize and I would really like to know and tell people about what is going on with the team.

ReplyDeleteI'd like my beat to be the football team. I am on both the JV, and the Varsity. Also, I like telling people what happened, whether we are successful or not. So i'd know everything that happened and when.
ReplyDeleteI would like to report on the junior varsity football team. I will be a great candidate for this position because I go to every football game. I understand football and have various friends on the team. This would allow me from the outside to get an inside perspective on the team by conducting interviews with the players. I stay on top of topics that I enjoy such as the football team. I would be happy to get the beat of the junior varsity football team.

I would like to do this because I believe that I have fantastic football knoweledge, I go to every home and away game with my dad, and I know a lot about football. From talking to Mrs. Hall and Mr. Canady I could find out the latest updates that may be going on in theater. Hope you give me the opportunity to have theater arts as my beat, Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'm not too sure what I want to cover. There's a lot of interesting school topics to cover, and it seems like football is already pretty well covered. I think it would be better if you just assigned me to a random topic to cover. Thanks.

I would like to beat on the cross county tem. The reason for this is because im on the team and i would like to let the school know about hard we all work to be good.
ReplyDeleteI would like to beat show choir. I would like to beat show choir because it allows students to express themselves through song and dance. I think that students should be in after school activities like show choir to use their time afterschool to hang out with friends doing things they like. Students should go and support show choir for all of thier hard work.
ReplyDeleteI would like to do my beat on volleyball. I would like to do my beat on this particular sport because I am on the team. Therefore I could keep good track of the information. Also I am very interested and well experienced, so hopefully I can encourage future freshmen or fellow students to tryout next year and to come support the team. Hope this is a good enough reason to assign me to this beat. Thank you.

For my beat I'd like to cover R.O.TC.. I would like to cover R.O.T.C. because it interests me and seems like it would be fun to cover. I would also like to cover R.O.T.C. because i don't think it'll be a hard beat to get.

As a student to a new school, new teachers, new everything, I am honestly not sure. My main topic for each day is to just know people, understand what to do, and make it around. I honestly have to say that Im not sure because I dont know a lot and Im not even able to keep track of the news. I dont know what to do. Thanks.

For my beat i would like to report on the administration. I feel the school would like get to know the people that make it all possible. I would personally like the administration to be my beat because I think I would do a great job of reporting on all the incredible work that gets put into the school each and everyday. The topic I would like to talk about is cheerleading because it is fun and a very interesting sport. Cheerleaders work as hard as they can just like any other sport. They know that they have to work for their goal and they will do what it takes to reach it. Cheerleaders make a team effort and learn as a group. I would really like to write about this topic.
